What I find interesting about this music video is the part where the artist is sitting on a bed in a plain white room but has images and video clips projected onto himself and the walls whilst he's lip synching the lyrics. When the flashing imagery changes to a plain image of clouds in a clear blue sky, it does so as the beat of the music slows down which reflects how precise transitions need to be and how they can be used to create a good music video. The overall dark, lonely feel of the music video appealed to me as the atmosphere created was consistent and focuses on the artist which is what I am aiming to do in my promo video.
I found the use of narrative in this particular music video excellent as it has a unique concept behind it. The use of black and white reflects class, which works well with the mise en scene. The suit worn by the artist, the black dress by the lead female and the car used are all props/costume which are aesthetically pleasing and fit in well with the concept. The title of the song 'Love Faces' is shown through the way the male and females faces are consistently flashed back to to show their expressions and chemistry between each other. Laura Mulveys male gaze theory can be found here as the woman is glamourized using costume and make up and the fact that the song itself is about her/a woman.
This music video is rather strange, which makes it memorable. As I will be creating a promo video, memorable is something I certainly want it to be. I felt as though the consistency and recurring appearence of animals (e.g. the elephant) shown in rural areas as well as common places make it unique as it is not something you see often. I am considering including one object and using it to signify the artist or an idea so that it is associated with the artist, therefore making the video memorable in all hope.
